Sorry got lost in the wilderness for a bit – long story involving builders, alterations, computer crashes and upgrades and IT specialists but (for now – it is not over yet) I am back.

First my good news – I think I once bloged about my favorite tawny sitting and waiting for a mate that never returned anyway last season I thought I saw a new male around but she never nested properly that I could see. This season she is on her old nest in a grove of fever trees with him often standing guard in a nearby tree.  I nearly did not notice as after two seasons I have stopped scrutinizing the nest (she is dark and well camouflaged if she lies low in the nest) however the presence of nesting weavers in the tree triggered a hopeful study of the nest and there she was. It is interesting that whilst she was not nesting (I am almost sure she did not use another nest for these two seasons as she was often around the old nest as if waiting for something) the weavers abandoned the tree as well.

Jean! we missed you ;-)
and ah wow wonderful news about your Tawny! interesting note about the weavers, I wonder if they rely on the Tawny to keep nest robbers away, maybe?
