White Stork Ciconia ciconia

Freezingwintervondelstork (by Mister.Tee)

 by Mister.Tee
'This silly stork chose to stay in The Vondelpark for the winter even though it has a free ticket to fly to Africa'.

There's no way I would be staying if I could get a free ticket to warm Africa. However the silly stork is not the only one staying over, the Vondelpark stork often gets visits from NLA 5870, a ringed stork born in Frankendael in 2002. Storks sometimes stay in Northern Europe during winter, especially if they are fed. This stork is fed by Annie, who shuffles to the park with her walker every day to feed the stork, and the Vondelpark geese and coots.
