Thank goodness fior being able to bird though open doors and windows. Every three years I have to sit for two days in a room doing a First Aid refresher course (a requirement for guides - a good thing for all my winging) and after 8 sessions over the years I find myself getting very claustrophobic. We were banished to the edges of the hotel property - luckely because the community centre sits in an area that is not often disturbed. Staring through the window I got to watch a variety of sunbirds (especialy the little white-bellied female who was energeticaly gathering spidersweb). Especialy for Wtm a pair of crested guiniefowl going after flying ants. There was a regular visit from a purple crested turaco who came to laugh at us. A group of trumpeter hornbills attracted to a fruiting sycamore fig added their mornful notes and occasionaly disturbed a flyby of green pigions. The heuglans robbins tried their best to cheer me up with a few beautiful notes and a woodlands kingfisher shouted at me everytime I started to nod off from boredome. i the reedbeds of the dam warblers called and the flying acrobatics preformed by the barn swallows caused much amusement for me - they were occasionaly joined by the palmswifts from accross the road and to add a flash of colour to the procedings the white throated bee-eaters. Just to put the mind on an even plane there is the everprestnt chatter of the weavers causing a sort of white noise.
