Researchers have compared data collected in the early 1980’s ,and then again between 2000-2005, and found that 83 species which traditionally bred in New York State have extended their range up to 40 miles.

 

According to William Porter, director of ESF’s Adirondack Ecological centre, where as range expansions may historically have occurred over centuries, it is now happening over decades.
