So we were invited to a 50th birthday party this passed saturday night in Nelspruit.  Now tell me? Who can go all that way and not sneak off to Kruger for a while?  I mean seriously? You can smell it, almost see it and certainly sense it!  We decided that the saturday would be a quick in and out of the park.  The birthday boy of course would join us as there was no way we could leave him behind...

The birding started straight away with a brand new lifer for me:  I have heard this bird a thousand times but never seem to find it.  Finally i found one and i might add he was dead silent... lol

Pearl Spotted Owlet:

(not a very good pic i'm afraid, but its a proof shot nevertheless!)

I ended up with 5 new lifers including Bru Bru, Yellow Bellied Eremomela, Red Capped Robin-Chat and the Striped Kingfisher.

Also got this lovely female Black Bellied Korhaan and i couldnt resist the Lilac Breasted Roller who was posing so nicely OR the Yellow Billed Hornbill with his serious chip on his shoulder!

I now have 347 ticks... and can't wait for the next birding expedition!

Cheers all

Luck you ...
To be able to just pop in one of our favourite places, tick some new birdies and take some great photos.
